The us version (397) is sort of culprit, it does NOT support sms or telephony.International (395) has almost everything i need:- Phone, sms, lte support out of the box (engineering)- Ip68 device (environment)- Removable battery (environment)- Screwless design (engineering)- Abundance of accessories (market)Only three wishes. (1) samsung has taken its software to completely different level since 2014. In 2019 The way to go is more software to sell in repo and less free software cluttering repos.A user must be able to buy or otherwise uninstall following software:1 Samsung Max2 Samsung Members3 Samsung SmartThings4 Samsung Flow5 Microsoft Office (excell, word, onenote, powerpoint)9 Microsoft Skype10 Google YouTubeThis is spreading wide without selling anything. Moreover disabling leaves artifacts and icons which push bits.(2) Higher resolution screen and (3) less shutter lag for photo camera. Id pay $50 for faster photo camera. That is when there is less shutter lag when i tap the shoot button on the screen. Something like 10 taps per second be awesome.

This is about the only ~8 inch waterproof tablet I could find to replace my old Pantech Element...I must say it's exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to see how high quality of a case it came with, along with a very nice S-pen.When I went to get a SIM card to play with 4G the store staff was really impressed at the design, especially being waterproof with a removable battery in a tablet running modern Android OS.My only minor disappointment is the hole thru the rubberized protection case for the headphone port seems to be a bit small, I had to remove the case and slightly enlarge it with a drill-bit to fit my headphone cables, an easy enough thing to do.

Excellent product in its own class till pencil support comes for the ipad mini. Perfect for note taking with the s pen and content consumption due to great form factor.

Works great . Fast and easy to set up .No problem getting it hooked up to a cellular plan in Canada.Having a little trouble finding a Samsung desktop Pogo charger for it in Canada but I can order one from the States.

I absolutely love this machine. Its a wonderful combination of Samsungs high quality, responsive design with a rugged dependable device. I use this device everyday and its refreshing not having to worry about it getting damaged. Its far more affordable than most rugged tablets and its great to use. Rugged devices may not be for everybody, but I love that feature and this is my favorite mobile device.

Purchased for the durability, memory is not so great but i use it as a planner, agenda, web browser,picked up a 256 gb sd card for music & videos and im good to go.

I'm in love with this great tablet! Things I like about it:1. One of the very few tablets with a cell phone & messaging features. You can start saving money by just inserting nano-sim from your existing cellphone and you'll be able to make calls and get SMS while paying just for one line. Most of the tablets in US are limited to data streaming only. No need to pay twice for an additional tablet with just a data plan.The only con: it works only with GSM carriers like AT&T & T-Mobile and you would have to get used to carrying this 8" giant as a cellphone2. It DOES work with AT&T 4G LTE as well as 4G HSPA and HSPA+(Band 2 & Band 5). It supports all carrier's bands except B30(2300), it's not a problem for me since some of ATT's own phones don't even support it because it's a relatively new band which is more like a supplemental band to the existing ones (B2,B4,B5 & B17).3. Wi-Fi Hotspot.4. Removable battery.5. Waterproof.6. S-pen stylus.Cons:1. Screen resolution is pretty good for an 8 inch screen, you're not gonna notice any pixels unless you look closer, but I wish it was at least FullHD2. Memory could be larger than 16gb

A tough tablet to travel with.

I bought this for longevity and above average toughness. The feel is good and while solid it's not too heavy. Rear panel access to change battery, SIM or SDcard is straightforward. I haven't tested the waterproof feature yet, but part of my purpose in buying was to carry on treks and holidays where I might want to use Google Maps or check websites in light rain. Will update review if that happens.The only negative/gripe is that it doesn't have any LEDs for notifications or to indicate charging - you have to power on the screen to check the charging status.

It's large screen plus (WiFi + Cellular) really make big difference from regular sized phones. I drop thinks, but It is rouge. The protection is very serious. Also GPS, Movies, YouTube, etc. all is more peasant. The down side is the camera. Its the same, I would say, not advanced quality similar to Galaxy Note 5. Galaxy Note 5 was a good phone, but I experienced better quality camera on Galaxy 9, that I also have. To be free of caring it I suggest using smart watch, so you will not miss call or text when you go to the stores, or appointments etc. Caring the regular sized phone is also not a grate pleasure. I'm happy with Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 8.0" 16GB, 3GB RAM. Grate product when you using it, but not when you caring it. Hey leave longer and wait to see how it will change. Some may never be satisficed. I'm very happy with what I have.

Very sturdy, I bought this for the time I will drop it. It is heavy though, and finding a case for professional use has been a challenge, most cases are either bright plastic/silicone; designed for a delivery person (with a strap); or top end milspec ready for Armageddon. I just wanted a durable tab for court use, but did not want to pay Apple prices. I finally found something called Lifeworks "Blazer" ziparound case, adequate but incorrect camera port.

This is NOT 28 inch screen, the advert is very misleading. no headphones included and no manual in English.

Cool tablet but I am super disappointed it does not do 4G on AT&T

This tablet is not actually waterproof (listed as IP68 - waterproof for up to 30 minutes of submersion) . Mine got wet briefly from the rain and the device is ruined. Samsung USA won't replace it because it is the international version and JP Mobiles is refusing to replace it because they say the warranty is void when the device gets wet (despite selling it as IP68).Samsung's own website says "Devices backed by an international standard rating of IP68 are deemed fit enough to withstand dust, dirt and sand, and are resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m underwater for up to thirty minutes."Total bummer because the device works really well (until it doesn't).Stay away from JP Mobiles.
