Bought this amazing Soundbar for my 43' Led tv and I am loving it. Initially I was sceptical because of its compact size but I was totally wrong as this one is extremely impressive. Now watching movie is absolutely delightful because of its virtual surround and built-in Dolby digital technology. Its the best soundbar in this price range so just go for it.

Great Quality For An Entry-Level Soundbar
Hairy Potter (Nov 25, 2020)
on Amazon
For an entry-level sound bar, which I consider this to be, it produces great audio. It has substantially improved the audio output from my TV. I like that I am able to cast from my mobile devices to the soundbar using Bluetooth.Included in the kit is the soundbar, power cord, optical audio cord, remote, and a quick installation guide. To access the full manual, you need to go to the Yamaha website. This soundbar is compact and lightweight, measuring only 23.6? wide and weighing a little under 4 pounds.Installation was very straightforward and uncomplicated. The soundbar connects to the TV with either the included audio optical cord, or with your own HDMI ARC (eARC) cord. The HDMI ARC connection is preferred, but both will give great results. Installation consists of connecting the HDMI ARC or optical connection to the soundbar and to the TV, then plugging in the bar?s power cord. I have a newer smart TV, so my TV recognized the soundbar as soon as both were powered on, and audio switched over to the soundbar automatically. There is no wall mount included for the bar but mounting to the wall is simply a matter of installing wall anchors and hanging the bar from the screws. There are spacers included to isolate the bar from the wall. The soundbar is controlled from either the remote or the app. The app only connects to the soundbar through Bluetooth, which means that you need to be in range of the soundbar for the app to work. Since both control the same soundbar functions, I do not see the need to use the app. The soundbar can be powered on/off and the volume changed by using the TV?s remote if the soundbar is connected through the HDMI ARC cord. There are indicator lights on the sound bar that illuminate when certain actions are performed or to indicate certain statuses. The indicator lights are easy to see and can be dimmed if desired. There are buttons on the top of the bar that control power, volume, and the input source.I am impressed with the audio output. It brings clarity to a wide range of tones and the audio remains clear at high volume settings. The built-in subwoofer brings out good bass tones. There are several programmed audio modes available, such as movie mode or game mode, which can be selected to adjust the output to optimize the audio. The bass can also be adjusted separately with the remote. There is a Clear Voice setting that is intended to improve the clarity of voices in the audio output. This is helpful if there is a broadcast with a lot of background music or sound effects that tend to drown out the dialogue. This setting did improve the clarity of voices.

Excellent for the smaller room
Sotto Voce (Nov 24, 2020)
on Amazon
This SR-C20A is an entry-level Yamaha soundbar made for the smaller room and bedroom. The attraction to this model was the 3rd speaker, a powered subwoofer. Most compact soundbars create bass through passive radiators integral with the bar ? i.e. 2 powered speakers separated in width by a baffled tube radiating through holes. So, there is no controllable bass other than passive baffle sound effects. The SR-C20A has a controllable powered subwoofer and a dual baffle radiator combined to deliver controllable high, medium, and low tones. There are five modes: standard, stereo, game, movie, and a virtual surround mode. I just picked the one that sounds best. The virtual surround provides a sense of depth and separation to my hearing. The SR-C20A soundbar replaced a no-name 2-speaker with baffles. The difference is sizable sound improvement.Easy install, lots of input options.Better sound than expected. Impressive sound. Sized for the smaller room LCD/OLEAD TV. Priced right.

I got this sound bar for use in my home office, mostly listening to music. I'm really impressed with it!Setup was simple. Just plug it in, turn it on, and connect to Bluetooth. The pairing with my computer was really painless, unlike some other Bluetooth audio devices I've used in the past.I decided to mount mine on the wall using two screws (mounting holes are in the back of the unit). It came with a cardboard guide showing where to drill. Worked like a charm! The thing came with a few foam pieces that are supposed to be stuck to the back of the speaker somewhere when you mount it to the wall. The instructions weren't clear on exactly where to put these. They seemed thicker than ideal for propping up the bottom of the speaker, and so I didn't end up using them. That's a very minor quibble though. The sound quality, volume, and range of frequencies is really quite impressive given the size and cost of this unit. I'm extremely pleased with the speaker overall.

This is a great little sound bar. It's really compact, but packs a good punch. I love that it's bluetooth, so we can move it around as needed. Currently it's our main speaker for our computers in the kitchen and we channeled our echo show in the kitchen to it, so we can play our amazon music playlists through it.Has a great sound, very easy to use.

Ideal for a home office, a game room, or a bedroom
PenKay (Nov 28, 2020)

Yamaha SR-C20A Compact Sound Bar with Built-in Subwoofer and BluetoothLike so many others, this past year has me working from home more than I had ever planned. This soundbar is just the right size and has more than enough volume for a home office or a bedroom. I have this soundbar placed at my desk in the space behind my monitors and, since my desktop PC has a digital optical output, I have it connected directly to the optical input on the soundbar. It is also Bluetooth paired to my phone and switching between them is as easy as pressing a button on either the remote control or on the unit. It sits about 4 feet away from my chair and the stereo separation is fantastic and comparable to having headphones on; furthermore, the bass response is crisp and clear. At this distance, it has more than enough volume, but it can also easily fill the room with sound if you want it to. It replaced a good quality two-speaker and subwoofer setup that I had used for many years and there is just no comparison between them, especially since this unit sounds so much better and takes up far less space. Highly recommend.

(Giant paragraph on size)I have a $2,000 or so stereo system already including 3 giant subs, so I didn't especially need this for my TV. I was hoping, however to use it possibly for my computer. Currently I'm running a Logitech 3 speaker system for my computer including a sub, but it is buried behind my monitor because I have 6 monitors going (4 + 2 at next computer) and there's no room for speakers. So..... I was hoping to place this in front of my monitor which is 27 inches as shown in the product picture. But this thing is HUGE. It rises well above my taskbar, blocking the bottom part of my monitor. So I'm not sure what monitor in the picture they are using but mine is pretty huge. Anyway.Besides that, my adult kid was really excited by the sound bar and his friend just bought one as well and hung it on their wall. He was hoping to steal this one for his bedroom and TV setup like his friend. I said no..... it's mine! But I might cave and give it to him.Now on to actual content.Pros=Sound (duh?)= Remote=Price is reasonable=Bluetooth (if needed)=Included optical cable=This includes all typical audio connections.=The app that goes with this can double as a remote and can allow you to make changes.Cons=Isn't going to replace a real stereo system with dedicated speakers (obviously)Quality sound and reasonable amount of bass. The voices are clear. If you just have a TV and no speakers, this is a great choice vs. building a whole stereo system.

Yamaha's bar wins me over over Bose!
By Mark Braun (Nov 26, 2020)
on Amazon
We have a nice Bose bar upstairs for the house tv and I can curse a short list of problems that made it somewhat incompatible with our Samsung TV. This or that didn't work as we'd hoped and it DOES work and it DOES deliver, but not with the wide throw and balance I wanted (I sit in a chair to one side of the room and never, ever get full sound or clear enough for my liking without cranking it up past my wife's liking). I recently added a a cheap TV to the basement and THAT audio out is tinny, thin and a joke; watching a booming Bond movie is like having an old transistor playing the sound: pathetic.Enter Yamaha's Soundbar SR-C20A. WOW. This 20v bar has exactly what I wanted: BASS! VOICE CLARITY controls! Easily hooked up, truly compatible with the optical connection or bluetooth. MOUNTABLE on a wall! Styled perfectly, decent remote control. Now, on bluetooth, I can play the bluetooth turntable across the room and it blows away the usual stereo receiver the record player's hooked up to. I'm thinking to dump that old stereo once and fror all except radio stations? I'll figure that out later. YAHAMA beat out our Bose bar upstairs for balance and exceptional sound quality. See the photo posted here for connections: good options, easy everything. It looks a gorgeous as it sounds, and for any user. it is a powerfully sweet sound delivery system. It has exceeded my expectations!

Yamaha SR-C20A Compact Sound Bar with Built-in Subwoofer and Bluetooth
Natalie Kilpatrick (Nov 25, 2020)
on Amazon
It took me less than 24 hours to determine that this is the best compact sound bar I have ever encountered in my life, and I've encountered quite a few large ones that can't even hold a candle to this.I ended up using it on my desktop computer with an optical port and let me tell you, the sound is amazing! The bass from the built-in subwoofer shakes my desk and my Zoom meetings now feel like a movie theater experience! There are LED indicators on the front of the bar to tell you what port you're connected to. They're subtle and not distracting. The bar's lights escalate and de-escalate to indicate volume when being activated. There's literally nothing bad I can say about this sound bar. I've never experienced anything as impressive as this in such a small package. I am probably going to turn around and purchase a couple more for holiday gifts this year, it's just so impressive!

Excellent quality soundbar for the price point, great for a mid-size room for music and TV sound.
Kent (Nov 26, 2020)

This review is for the Yamaha SR-C20A Compact Sound Bar with Built-in Subwoofer and Bluetooth. Surprisingly good sound out of this compact sound bar. It?s only about 23? wide, 2.5? high, and 3? deep, but it kicks out some nice sound. The mids and highs are clear and crisp, and the bass was actually good, especially for a compact bar. The entire range sounds great from the low volumes through the mid volume levels, where the bass is definitely noticeable and blends in well. When you crank it up to a high volume level however, the bass seems to get washed out a bit with the louder mids/highs since it doesn?t have the strong ?thump? you get from a full sized subwoofer. But it is still a reasonably good bass for this compact size, and definitely better than the prior soundbar I had, which is being replaced with this one.It has several audio input options including hdmi/optical, bluetooth, and 3.5 analog. There are preset audio configs for stereo/music, standard, movie, and game modes. Bluetooth music play is effortless and does sound great. It?s not something you would use for a big party, but the sound is definitely good enough for a small gathering or just chilling to music alone. The optical TV sound input also works really well, and makes a very noticeable difference to any TV that may not have that great a sound by itself. It really makes the sound feel more multi-dimensional and ?real?, like you are there when watching a movie or concert on the TV.It?s an excellent quality soundbar for the price point, and one that I would recommend for a mid-size room for both playing music and TV sound.

Nice form factor / not optimal for sound
R. Ferguson (Dec 17, 2020)
on Amazon
I think Yamaha has done about the best they can do with this form factor. For the same price you can get better sound from powered bookshelf speakers (including from Yamaha) that, admittedly, take up more room and create more clutter. But if you're willing to take a small hit in sound quality for the sake of the simplicity, this is a good product. It offers optical, HDMI, Bluetooth, and analog inputs. It probably works best for computer monitors that lack good speakers. The remote is fine. It has a fairly large power supply.

I can't stop raving about this small sound bar, it fits perfectly on my TV stand and looks very balanced next to my 43Inch TV. The sound bar has several option for plug and play including HDMI or OPT for a direct line. It also has Bluetooth if you want to connect your phone or tablet and use it as a smaller speaker as well. The sound is super balanced with an internal subwoofer that you can control the levels for. There is a small LCD that pretty discreet when you're controlling the volume to notify you what level you volume you're at. The audio is superb and can honestly fill a whole apartment. I love how versatile this soundbar is. There is also different audio EQ settings depending on the entertainment your consuming which comes in handy if you switch between music and film a lot.I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a smaller discreet soundbar with sound that pack a punch.

Amazing sound in a tiny speaker
Ernest Stalnaker (Dec 6, 2020)

When I ordered this sound bar, I was wondering if it would be suitable for anything besides use with my computer system because of the small size. But once I hooked it up to the LG OLED TV in my living room, I was surprised by the loud, clear sound coming from this small speaker. Yamaha has really done a great job with this sound bar. It has good bass, and I can hear the spoken dialog from movies and TV shows much more clearly than when I was using the speakers built into the TV.You can connect it to your TV either with the included digital audio cable or via Bluetooth. It also supports HDMI ARC if your TV has that feature, so in that case you can skip the audio cable and use HDMI for everything.Although I am using this in my living room, I am sure it would make a great gaming PC speaker as well.

You simply can't beat the sound quality for a unit of this size and prize. It produces a breadth of sound that would rival sound bars twice its size. The set up is extremely easy and all possible cables are included. Was able to connect to TV via the Optical connection and also to my Android via Bluetooth. Amazed house guests by changing the music from another room. After your initial enjoyment, read the user guide (limited explanations) to take advantage of several features. One thing I found is that the input selection cycles between all of the options. Drove me crazy a couple of times. The good news is that it tells you which input source it's connected to.

Room-filling sound in a compact soundbar
Ian D. (Dec 23, 2020)
on Amazon
I got this for my living room, which is actually part of a great room that's a total of around 600sq ft. This little soundbar fills the entire space with clear, balanced sound. It also operates quite simply, switching between Bluetooth and an optical input I've run from my TV with a push of a remote button. The included subwoofer may not thump like a large, dedicated one, but it definitely has some oomph. It's impressive for a soundbar that's just about two feet across. What I like:- Good quality sound that can be adjusted to a degree - bass can be raised and lowered, and this is useful when switching between music and TV/movies or even different types of movies.- Ease of setup - I had it up and going in less than five minutes. It connected easily to my TV and pairs easily with all sorts of things, like my phone or my Echo as an separate speaker.- Compact size - takes up just a small footprint in my entertainment center.- Reasonable price - currently it's marked down slightly to $150. It's a fair price for high quality.I really don't have any complaints. Perhaps one of the larger models in this line would provide slightly superior sound quality, but for a space-saving option, this one is fantastic. I'm very happy with it.

This is an excellent speaker to add to your TV. It will vastly improve your experience with quality sound. It was very easy to install and pair with the television. I used the included optical cable, but there are other connection options. Everything you need to connect is included. The options to control volume settings and change to different modes are really nice. There are movie mode, game mode, stereo mode, and standard mode. It really does make a difference depending on what you are doing. The remote is a bit wide compared to other remotes, but the buttons are easy to find and labeled clearly. Overall this is a great product, and for the price, it?ll be a really good addition to your TV watching experience.

True quality for a small unit
M. Poach (Jan 12, 2021)
on Amazon
I bought this for my kitchen TV because the internal speakers were awful. Because the set is smaller, I didn't want a major sound bar with a sub-woofer. Just needed something small. There are small units for less than $100, but they are primarily for laptops and tablets. And the reviews were awful. I compared the sound to a transistor radio. The next price level seemed to be under $200. I really didn't want to spend that much. But I knew if I took the low-price route that I would be disappointed. I was aware that Yamaha makes a quality product. So I bit the bullet and bought it. It is super-impressive for a small sound bar. You won't be disappointed. And it fits nicely underneath my 20" set.
